S was Fiat's sport-look 500, and it is the one with the deeper front bumper, the side skirts and the roof spoiler instead of the chrome moustache a Lounge wears. Under the bonnet is the 1.2-litre four-cylinder, 1,242 cc and 69 bhp, which is the cheapest 500 there is to fuel and to insure. It emits 113 g/km, and as a petrol it is ULEZ compliant, so a run into central London costs you the fuel and nothing more.
The 500 is 3,546 mm long, close to a metre shorter than a Focus. That is the whole argument for one in London: you park it in the gap everybody else drives past. S trim sits on alloys with the lowered sports look rather than the wheel trims further down the range, so it does not read as the entry model from across the street.
Open the door and the S gives itself away. Blue-highlighted sports seats, a blue dash panel and 500-badged seat backs, where a Pop gets ivory plastic. The multifunction steering wheel, Bluetooth, USB and AUX are all there, with air conditioning and electric windows alongside them. This one has covered 71,684 miles and comes with full service history.
